2009 Edison Lecture:
Changing the World One Engineer at a Time
Our next lecture will be in mid-Jan 2009 and will explore the effect of electrical & computer engineering on third world development.
The Edison Lecture Series
In the past 4 years, the Edison Lecture Series has inspired and informed 16,000 middle and high school students. Ten thousand have attended a live free hour-long show on The University of Texas at Austin campus. Another 6,000 students participated in two day-long video conferences presented by the Texas Education Telecommunications Network.
The Lecture's mission is to get students excited about technology as a career choice. We concentrate on Wow! Companies and governmental organizations show up to demonstrate robots, green screen video technology, virtual reality, solar cars, and more in interactive pre-show demonstrations. In the Lecture itself, we have explored Television and Surveillance, Renewable Energy, Microprocessors, and Communications using activities and dramatic examples for illustration.
It is a chance for students to visit a university campus and for teachers to enrich their science
curriculum.
