Sponsoring the Edison Lecture

The Edison Lecture Series is an annual event designed to excite middle and high school students about the possibilities of a career in technology. The hour-long presentation includes hands-on activities and dazzling examples of how creative and fun engineering can be.

In the past 5 years, the Edison Lecture Series has inspired and informed 18,000 middle and high school students. Twelve thousand have attended a live free hour-long show on The University of Texas at Austin campus. Another 6,000 students participated in two day-long video conferences presented by the Texas Education Telecommunications Network.

Each event is managed by a steering committee formed by The University of Texas at Austin Electrical & Computer Engineering Department. Since the Lecture Series is administered by a non-profit entity, sponsors of the Series are entitled to all applicable tax benefits for donations. Fiduciary responsibility for proceeds and/or program expenditures fall under the auspices of The University of Texas at Austin standard accounting practices.

This year’s topic is innovation. There will be four performances.

There are several ways to help with the Edison Lecture: financial support, participation, and giveaway donations. For more information, please contact Dr. Tony Ambler at ambler@ece.utexas.edu.
